A remarkably modest theologian, who enjoyed influence in his own lifetime and apotheosis after death, named Thomas Aquinas, stopped writing his major work. It was called the Summa Theologica, although Aquinas never completed it. His fellow priests made inquiries, and finally he explained he would write no more. Why? “It is straw.” All he had written.
