It is probably impossible for one historian to provide a comprehensive history of 3000 years of Armenian political, social, and cultural history. This book of 700 pages does an excellent job through 1980. But then, under the direction of Gerard Dedeyan, seventeen leading historians in France have contributed different sections and chapters of this study. The book is well stocked with 24 maps and numerous photos. As it was published in 1982, it does not cover Armenian independence upon the collapse of the Soviet Union or the struggle over Nagorno-Karabagh.… (meer)
