The Fitchburg Historical Society

The Fitchburg Historical Society was established in 1892 by James F.D. Garfield, publisher of the Fitchburg Sentinel, and several prominent city leaders. The mission of the society is to collect, preserve, interpret, and make accessible the history of Fitchburg. Its residents have generously toon meer donated photographs and memories to fulfill this mission. Local historians like Rufus C. Torrey, H.A.
