Nice enough story but Ashton grated on my nerves.

I enjoyed these immensely. The first two books were my favorite, but the whole series was amazing. Very different from my usual choices, it turned out to be the perfect comfort read, leaving me with all kinds of warm and fuzzy feelings. Not to say there was no drama - the morgenau are all drama queens (well, except for Cedifor, who was super cool) - but it was mostly harmless, and the HEA was never in question.

I knew nothing about Welsh mythology going in, so it was all wonderfully new and unfamiliar. The author’s passion for the Welsh folklore was clear throughout the books, and it gave them a new depth. The world building was excellent, pulling the reader in from the very beginning. The love story between Olly and Myrhydion was sweet and beautifully developed, but it wasn’t the only focus here - the family bonds and friendships were equally important.

All in all, it’s a perfect feel-good series. A deceptively light read, but it packs a punch!

The Ugliest Sweater is the story of Dan, who loves tacky Christmas objects and ugly Christmas sweaters, and Jake an ultra-cool radio host who has an image to maintain. This story was told in third person from both Dan and Jake’s pov.

What can I say, silly, cheesy, over the top stories like this are my kind of book. This was a fun, fast read and well written. The one issue I had was when Dan thought back on something Jack did. The transition to indicate that what Dan was thinking about was a memory wasn’t there. The segue felt like I was reading Jack’s pov. It was only when the scene was over, did I realize that it was Dan’s memory. It took me out of the story and I had to reread that part for it to make sense of what was happening.

Dan is a very hot, nice guy, who refused to give up his ugly Christmas sweater which leads to him moving back in with his parents. One day while he’s out, he meets Jake at a coffee shop and sparks fly. The story takes on a Cinderella quality when Jake flees and neither, Dan or Jake know how to find the other. That’s resolved eventually in a cute way and they start dating, but Jake is hiding a secret which Dan misconstrues into multiple incorrect possibilities.

The theme for this book seems to revolve around ‘the coolness factor.’ Both men worry about ‘being cool’ but in different ways. This is what causes the misunderstandings. It’s resolved of course, and leads to their HEA.

I read some of the other reviews that said this book was over-the-top. Since I like fun reads like this, I enjoyed it. It’s cute, fluffy, a quick read and if any of the follow up books in the series are like this one, I’d read them. I give The Ugliest Sweater, 4 Stars.
