Fiction with Prominent Confirmed Asexual Characters
- Beschrijving
- So far, I'm focusing on works with main characters who are asexual, although I may add books with prominent asexual secondary characters as I find them. Also, these characters have been explicitly confirmed to be asexual in the text - no headcanon, no "the author said in a blog post that they're asexual, and the text neither confirms nor denies this."

- Familiar_Diversions: This one's a bit of a cheat, since Breq, the main character, is not explicitly confirmed to be asexual until the next book, Ancillary Sword.

- Familiar_Diversions: I don't believe the word "asexual" is used, but the main character (a robot with organic components) describes themselves as being uninterested in sex, even sex scenes in favorite shows.

- Familiar_Diversions: I don't believe the word "asexual" is ever used, but several discussions about sex/relationships make it clear that Breq is asexual rather than someone who "just hasn't met the right person yet." All AIs in the trilogy are confirmed to be asexual (aromantic asexual?). Also, one human character (actually human, not an AI in a human body) is potentially asexual, based on speculation by Breq.

- Familiar_Diversions: This book is a questionable addition to the list, for several reasons, but I figured I'd add it since I've seen several mentions of the Spartans as being being asexual, and this does technically seem to be correct. The word "asexual" is never used, but there's a short passage in which it's mentioned that one of the side effects of the medical procedure the young Spartan candidates undergo is a suppressed sex drive.

- Familiar_Diversions: The heroine's male love interest is described as being uninterested in sex. Although the word is never used, later conversations indicate that he is likely demiromantic (or demisexual? not sure).

- Familiar_Diversions: At least one POV character is aro ace - those specific words are never used, but it's clear that he isn't interested in either sex or romantic relationships. [This note is based on a reading of an ARC copy of the book. The final published version may be different.]

The romance between the hermaphrodite and asexual characters is already established - the primary concentration is on the romance between the hermaphrodite character and male character.
