Over mijn bibliotheek

I'll read almost anything*, but any more I tend to only own non-fiction books: Bird books, pet care books, psychology books; books on teaching, genealogy, or photography. And, of course, my Buddhist library.

I used to, only half-joking, tell everybody who would listen that I was a Fahrenheit 451 baby. To me, books are near-on sacred! I have always proclaimed that anything you could ever possibly want to know was in a book, somewhere. Getting lost in the stacks was a constant hazard for me in college and grad school!

So many books, so little time. . . .

*actually, that's not true. I won't read, on principle, any novel whose front flap describes the men by the contents of their characters and the women by their success at the mandatory performance of femininity. Nor will I read anything whose plot hinges on a male protagonist avenging or rescuing a female victim. That goes double for novels with multiple female victims.
