Over mijn bibliotheek

Since I've stopped selling books (7 years now) professionally and blundered into a different business, I definitely acquire fewer, but also seem to read less. Not a lot of activity here anymore, but my impulse to catalog everything still exists. Ever tried moving owning almost 3,000 books? It's not fun, and I no longer have a good back or friends who are willing, strong, or young enough to destroy their own backs to help. So, slowly whittling down. Am I ever going to read that Eliot Spitzer bio that came out before he was even governor? Should I bother? Probably not. Is life long enough to read dense, plotless postmodernism? Only the really good ones.

Favorite inscription I've ever seen in a used book: a '60s vintage mass market paperback of John Rechy's sorta-trashy sorta-literary City of Night. Next to the author's dedication, "To Mom and Dad", continues an inscription from the prior page about how this is "probably the biggest dig in the whole book". Ouch!
