Over mijn bibliotheek
I read a lot of different things. I go to the library a lot, and look on the new acquisitions shelves first thing. I frequently come home with things that I wouldn't have sought out, but have captured my interest. I read a lot of historical fiction and fictionalized biography, historical fantasy, literary fiction, books about medical things, psychology, sociology, neurology, gardening, history, and social history.

My home library fills pretty much every room in the house; psychology, religion, psychiatry, and metaphysics in the bedroom; sociology, hard sciences, biography, and medicine in the spare room; cooking, sewing, art, and crafting in the sewing room; gardening in both the sewing room and living room; history and geography in the dining room; writing and reference by the desktop; and fiction in the living room. My dream is to get them all read. Hah.

I always look for books at yard sales, thrift stores, the Friends of the Library book sales. And the free shelf at in the library foyer. I've found some very interesting things there and don't know why they were being tossed out.

I get a lot of books from the Amazon Vine program and the Library Thing early reviewers program.
Over mij
Books, cats, chocolate, plants, and tea. Those are the things I need to be happy. Oh, and a little wine doesn't hurt. I can't live without books; I always carry one with me and lament the disappearance of the pocketbook size. I usually have at least three books going at a time, along with some magazines. A perfect day is laying on the sofa with some cats, a hot cup of jasmine tea, and a pile of new books.

I garden a lot and love plants. I also love costuming, cosplay, art quilting, making jewelry, and other crafts.

I'm almost done taking the training to be a hospice volunteer. I'm also a member of the local gardening association, a non-profit that does education and beautification in the county and make up the monthly newsletter. I am a former member and past president of the Friends of the Library, and have turned in my application to volunteer at the animal shelter. They need people to socialize cats. Can you imagine a better volunteer gig than playing with kittens? I can't.
