Unfortunately I'm not familiar with the Kolbe. I looked at Medline to see what peer-reviewed literature there might be. I also looked online to try to see if the factors correlated with other well-known basic psychological traits, but there doesn't seem to be much research that wasn't sponsored by the company selling the test. Their site does list research to make a good case that the Kolbe's not just the MBTI with slightly different packaging, as many tests are. Sounds more a measure of business goals than personality, but I'd be interested to hear what you think of the book after you read it.

Hi. I'm glad I could be of at least a little help. For all of its imperfections, I have found Jungian typology very useful in my own life. I researched it because my preferences are not clearly defined...I always type just barely an INFP although I tend to write like an INTP and when taking the validated not-for-free MBTI have always tested XNXP. (I also test borderline 4/5 on the Enneagram which seems to underscore the issue.) I'm a scientist by profession so I'm more analytical than most NFs out there. Since I don't fit but I see so much explanation there I've dug a bit into the underpinnings, so that now I spend a lot less time in typology and more time in descriptions of Jungian individuation and similar developmental psychology (Maslow, Erikson.) Take my library with a grain of salt. It's not all gems. And if you run across something particularly interesting, drop a line to let me know that; recommendations are always appreciated. :) Take care!

Hello! I was wondering if you'd read about Grace O'Malley / Grania O'Malley / Granuaile, the "Sea Queen of Connacht". Quite a few years ago I read a fictionalized account of her life; a bit Harlequin-ish but still very interesting. I seem to remember a legend that she visited the English court and met Queen Elizabeth, although it's rather unlikely to have happened.

If you do know of O'Malley, can you recommend any good (non-fiction) books that talk about her?

LibraryThing is a wonderful thing, and I use it all the time to see what other folks are reading ... just like you.

It's hard to beat Sabatini for a good read. Most of his work is out of print, but you can still pick up good hardcover reading copies of his work rather inexpensively using www.bookfinder.com...

I heartily recommend John Biggins as worthy of your interest. His four novels concerning WWI Submariner/Aviator Otto Prohaska are a terrific read.

I have yet to read a bad Bernard Cornwell book, and the list goes on and on....
