Hello Nicola, thanks for contacting me and I'm glad you enjoy my blog. I've had a quick look at your library and see you think Can any Mother Help Me? is too heavy to read through in one go. I'm currently reading it - one letter at a time and finding it works well like that, but agree it's too much to read without breaks in between. It's fascinating to see how these women lived through the war years.

Hi Nic. Thanks for your choice. It'll be interesting to see if it matches up to others' estimation.

There were a couple of books we share that I was very tempted to challenge you with (I didn't think anybody else would have Forever Liesl on their list!!), but decided to go with one that I had at least read. I really enjoyed Tim Butcher's 'Blood River' earlier this year, and hope you do too (it's a bit slimmer than my challenge to you last year, although the Harry Thompson is one of my all-time favourites).

I work at one of the museum's in York - it is brilliant!

Even if I hadn't been to the launch, I think I'd have picked up Tell It To The Bees anyway. Must have made a mint for Waterstones, since it was in the 3 for 2 offer, so everyone at the launch bought three books!

Hi Nicola, sorry to have taken so long to get back to you. Thanks for adding my library to your interesting list, we do seem to have plenty in common. But you also have a lot of lovely looking books I don't have so I hopefully will be taking a lot of ideas to add to my wishlist from your shelves too.

I haven't been to the Waterstones you mentioned, I don't get into Sheffield very often, Meadowhall is about the closest I have been for awhile. I do like that Sheffield has a lot of second hand bookshops to browse though so always make sure we stop at a couple if we are passing through.

I hope we get to chat more often and swap recommendations. And I saw you met Booksloth, she will encourage you to lots of lovely books too.

Oh, that thing about cats having staff really rings true! And I'll let you into a little secret now - I have a dear LT friend who shall remain nameless, who admitted to me not long ago that his TBR pile runs into 4 figures!!! He does have over 11,000 books catalogued here so I suppose it's proportionally no worse than ours but it ceratinly makes me feel a lot better every time I think about it!

Now I KNOW you're someone I want to hear from! A 600 high Mount TBR! And here am I feeling bad about my 200+ one. It makes me feel bad because I really do want to read all the books I own and I do try to do my best, but I can buy so much faster than I can read. I'm all stocked up for a siege, should I ever get one.

And I'm a bit of a coward about dog books - I'm always afraid the dog will die at the end (as happens in so many of them) so I don't buy as many of them as you might think. I haven't read the one you mentioned yet. My husband and I have also just 'adopted' two cats from our daughter who recently split up with her boyfriend and now lives in a flat where cats aren't allowed. This is my first experience of the cat world and I'm still getting used to how different they are from dogs!

I'm sorry - I must warn you I'm a very bad influence when it comes to buying books. It's because I've got no will power myself and if I can't resist buying then I don't see why anyone else should either. What makes it worse is that I used to smoke until 6 or 7 years ago so now every time I think of a book I want I tell myself I can afford it now I'm a non-smoker. That only works up to a point; I'm sure I spend much more now on books than I ever did on cigarettes! I'll definitely be bumping The Outcast up that pile too. And because you have a 'dogs' tag I'm assuming you're also another dog-owner/lover. Do you have dogs of your own? I have a beautiful black lab who is the love of my life (don't tell the rest of the family) and who now has quite a few friends on LT.

Hello there - that was nice of you - and thanks for thinking my library is 'interesting'! We do have quite a few books in common and you also have quite a lot that are on my mental wishlist. And you're another Brit too! We're a bit of a minority group here so it's always nice to meet another one. I really like the look of your top ten too - there are several in there I really like and the ones I don't have are all ones that look interesting. I see you've got The Outcast at number 3; I've had that one waiting to be read for ages now - should I move it a bit nearer the top of the pile?
