Over mijn bibliotheek
A work in progress, which will eventually contain our combined holdings of ~2000 books. The collection is reasonably dichotomous: my interests centre around science and natural history, philosophy, tramping, and other outdoor recreation, with relatively little fiction (John Le Carre excepted). Liz's collection covers art, art history, classics, history, crafts, sewing, education, and most of the fiction. Areas of overlap include travel, New Zealand history and exploration, and natural history.
Over mij
Southern New Zealand by inclination, temperament, and education; based in Christchurch for most of my career; originally studied physics and mathematics but side-stepped into fisheries biology and environmental science. Now largely retired I'm based in Wanaka, where I have built a small astronomical observatory in my backyard. Partner Liz keeps her hand in with a bit of teaching while pursuing her interest in printmaking and the visual arts. Other interests include the New Zealand outdoors, keeping fit, and natural history. Macy the feline also lives with us but shows no interest in books.
