On "Firing Line" when William F. Buckley asked Burgess about "A Clockwork Orange" he just said, "Ah, that unhappy book." I suppose it got the movie deal and left all his other books in the shade. Norman Mailer made a similar but more oblique comment in his foreword to the 50th anniversary edition of "The Naked and the Dead."
