The Death books (especially the ones with Susan) are my favorite Discworld subseries, and I greatly enjoyed reading this installment. The basic premise of needing to stop someone before they can build a clock that will trap Time and freeze the universe in one moment (therefore bringing about the End of the World) is an interesting one, but it's the characters involved that are the real star of the show. There are some familiar characters, and some new ones, and they all have really neat character arcs. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

Time is a resource that has to be managed. On Discworld, the Monks of History store time and pump it from the places where it's wasted - like underwater (how much time does a codfish need?) to places that need it - like cities, where there's never enough of time. But the construction of the world's first truly accurate clock starts a race against, well, time, for Lu Tze and his apprentice Lobsang Ludd. Because it will stop time. And that will only be the start of everyone's problems. Thief of Time comes complete with a full supporting cast of heroes and villains, yetis, martial artists and Ronnie, the fifth Horseman of the Apocalypse (who left before they became famous). This novel is a fun adventure with an unexpected twist. I love love love Susan and can't deny the insights given to a box of chocolates. The concept of paying your debts is explored and the five horsemen of the apocalypse ride out, an expression of embracing old, returned companions.
For me, this book felt much faster than [The Truth]. Maybe it was the chocolates. ( )
