Anthony is a little bit of an oddity. I tried this after listening to an episode of This American Life about a young fan who ran away from home to end up at Anthony's home. The show featured the author quite a bit, including descriptions of his long Author Notes at the end of each book, which appealed to me. On balance, the author note was my favorite part of the book, with him talking about his day-to-day life and writing process. Probably won't continue reading the author's book, especially after reading about his views on women in the Wiki on him. I have read this many times before I joined Goodreads. Time to reread so I can comment. I loved the first half and then got a bit bogged down in the fantasy world stuff. The first visit was fine but the last one went on way too long for me. The Xanth books and the Incarnation books are two different approaches to magic and fantasy and I felt this one had a bit too much Xanth in it. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

But he soon discovered that the gifts were cunning traps. While he had been distracted, he had become enmeshed in a complex scheme of the Evil One to destroy all that was good. In the end, armed with only the Hourglass, Norton was forced to confront the immense power of Satan directly. And though Satan banished him to Hell, he was resolved to fig Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |

captures my feelings perfectly -- loved this series as a youth, am appalled by the sexist stereotyping as an adult, prefer to remember it fondly and not re-experience it. Alas. ( )
