This one is a bit more romance than I thought, but not enough to make me abandon it, there was enough action to keep the pages turning. ( ) Hurricane Dana, out in the Atlantic, is looking to grow as it passes over Cuba and heads for SW Florida. Julie Minton is making preparations to evacuate her counseling group of teenage girls. But, earlier in the day Julie’s daughter, Randi, went for a ride on a Jet Ski with Thad Brockman. Now the two kids are missing. Julie and Thad’s father, Zach Brockman an ex-Navy seal, race to locate their children as the skies turn darker, the rain lashes down, and a storm surge is expected to hit their coastal town. This book was a mystery as bodies are found and the children remain missing. There is a good feel for what it would be like to be in Florida waiting for a hurricane. Each chapter commences with an updated weather report. For myself, some of the book brought back memories of my own experience on a small island on the St. Pete/Treasure Island causeway in the aftermath of a hurricane. I was impressed by the amount of water covering that island when the Gulf waters were pushed up into Tampa Bay. I have read a few books by Karen Harper. I find she’s either in tune, or way off in left field. I just could not get into Hurricane right from the start. I thought the characters lacked punch, they just seemed undeveloped. I can say the same for the plot. There was lots of action going on but it just was boring to me. A reviewer on Amazon classified this book as a romance. Sorry, but there is no romance in this book, the characters didn’t even have any chemistry. Not one of Karen Haper’s best. With lashing rain and brutal winds bearing down on them, residents of southwest Florida prepare for evacuation. But Julie Minton cannot leave. Her fourteen-year old daughter, Randi, left home earlier that morning to go out on a Jet Ski with Thad Brockman, a boy Julie barely knows. Now Randi and Thad are missing - and the hurricane that hours ago was just another routine warning has turned toward shore. With local law enforcement absorbed in emergency response measures, Julie has only the help of Zack Brockman, Thad's father. Together they begin a race against time to find their children - but first they must battle not only Mother Nature, but an enemy willing to use the danger and devastation of the storm for their own evil ends. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
