Maleev's art continues to be spectacular. ( ) This is less talky and more hyperkinetic than the first volume of the Bendis/Maleev Daredevil, which means it gets your heart pumping but also gives itself more chances to get into trouble by just being a shitty guy in the queasily almost-deniable misogynistic way that's, in the decade since these stories were written, come thankfully to be named and pushed back against in the nerd world (gamergate, etc.). See, for example, the treatment of Typhoid Mary; but then she was a legacy character and they were only semi-aware of what it all meant and nobody knows exactly how things will look in the cold light of ten years later and like, this is tight and packs a punch so take it as a historical document and then also on its merits. Basically, if you liked the issues preceding this collection, then you'll probably like this collection too. Daredevil's life, now that he has been "outed" as a superhero, continues to spiral out of control. Lots of people are gunning for him - first the Owl, who is flooding the streets with a new drug and is taking over the Kingpin's former territory; then the Yakuza, who want a piece of Hell's Kitchen for their own; and of course the constant media barrage. Some of Murdock's friends even wonder if he's had a mental breakdown. Maleev's art continues to make a good story a great one; it really fits the dark and gritty tone of Bendis' tale. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

After Matt Murdock's public outing, the last thing he needs is the return of Typhoid Mary-one of his deadliest foes, a schizophrenic predator who terrorizes her targets with a seemingly inexhaustible lust for bloodshed. But even worse is her connection to Wilson Fisk, who's back in Hell's Kitchen to exact revenge. Collects Daredevil #41-50 & #56-65. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
