That's me, Lexi Carmichael, a reformed NSA hacker. But a series of extraordinary events led me to leave government life behind for a fresh start with a brand-new. It may not be cool to have the hots for your new boss, but Finn Shaughnessy seems to have the hots for me, too. If only things didn't get so complicated...
Darren Greening, a genius researcher from Flow Technologies (our first client!) is missing, and his bosses think I'm involved. And they aren't the only ones—the man who nearly snapped my neck in the parking garage thinks so, too.
Now I'm caught in the middle of a complex and dangerous case. I'll have to use all my geek skills and a little help from my friends to solve the mystery of Darren's disappearance before Neck-Snapping-Man makes a return visit...

#2 in Lexi mysteries. Lexi & Finn get their first case trying to find a missing nano researcher. Hacking into a message that is an SOS to Lexi they start investigating a seemingly endless search. Throw in Basia, the Zimmerman twins, & Slash. Lexi is up to her eyeballs in adventure, murder, mishaps, & possible romance. Another zany fun book ( )

No One to Trust by Julie Moffett
Lexi Carmichael series #2. Mystery.
Lexi is a self proclaimed geek. She recently switched from working at the NSA to a private security company. A missing client uses Lexi’s name in a note and the new firm gets involved in the investigation trying to find him. Lexi is surprised that her boss also seems to be interested in her for more than a working relationship. Lexi is just not experienced enough to know how to handle that.

A bit humorous as Lexi flips between uncertainty in her femininity but utterly confident in her computer skills. The dancing scenes are priceless!
A bit dated but still a good mystery series. ( )

No One to Trust is an intriguing and fast paced novel. It has an appealing cast of characters that are three dimensional and realistic. Julie Moffett’s use of the tech industry sets the stage for unique and thought provoking mysteries. To read this review in its entirety, please visit http://bookreviewsandmorebykathy.com/?p=190 ( )

This book was SO MUCH FUN. Poor Lexi! The author puts her through so much hell! I laughed so much, and I've never read such a raunchy book that could also be considered a "sweet" romance.

In this novel, Lexi is working for Finn, and their first client wants them to do something that's more like private detection than computer security. In the meantime, Finn has asked Lexi on an official date, and it's probably the worst date you could imagine. Just when you think it has gotten too awful, it gets even more so.

Lexi does get to exercise some of her hacking skills in this story, rather than relying on her twin hacking friends Elvis and Xavier from the first story. It was a needed change; I felt like Lexi relied too much on others in the first story.

Some fun speculations: I don't think Finn is the man for her. Neither is Slash. It's Elvis. When she's with Elvis, she doesn't have to worry about her sexual maturity or lack thereof, there is never any embarrassing catastrophe, and they even have some nice chemistry. Finn's a nice guy (and bravo for the author for coming up with so many appealing men), I just don't think he's the guy for her.

Neither do I have any special insights, so I'll look forward to the next story to see what tortures the author devises next! ( )

Note: Why I wanted to read this book: SWFG: Single, White, Female, Geek. Hello? They marketed right at me and boy am I glad they did!

What I Loved: Sometimes when you read a book, you get really lucky enough to see yourself in a character. That was how I felt while reading Lexi! She was right at home with a keyboard/research but when you put her in a dress and heels she felt awkward. Granted, I hope to never find myself in the high risk situations she happens to stumble upon but it was fun reading her figure everything out. Lexi is a full-blown hacker/gamer/computer geek and she also has some very geeky friends. She happens to use these talents in this book to help find a fellow missing geek that deals with nanobots. The case was really fun and interesting. I thought the twists/turns were fantastic.

What I Liked: For a geek, Lexi is attracting the really hot men! Finn, the Irish accent lawyer who is also her boss. Slash, the mysterious but seems to be there when she needs him, government agent who has a to die for leather coat. Also Elvis, one part of the geek twins that I think just might have a thing for her. Lexi, of course, has no idea what to do with any of them. This is not a romance, but it was fun to watch her deal with these 3 guys in a very bumbling way. The limo scene with Finn was hilarious!

Complaints: None other than I didn't realize this was a 2nd in series book. I will be going back for the other one.

Why I gave it a 4: This was a really good Computer Mystery story. The pacing, plot, and characters all delivered and I had a great time reading it!
