It is the 4th book in the Iron Druid Series and it is as fantastic as the 1st book. I like Urban Fantasy, I like it when all supernatural creatures, gods of difference believes deities etc come out play in the same time, realm etc. The Iron Druid, Atticus, is not an all knowing tree hugging creature. He makes mistakes, he knows it and he knows that there is so much more he needs to learn. A very lovable character is Oberon, the Irish Wolfhound. He brings comic relief and i have found myself laughing out loud many times and many times more smirking, smiling and grinning. Never did i feel bored or the thought, that i had to finish the book, had to keep on reading. However, you have to keep on reading, because you want to know what happens next. The author puts a lot research in the book and the characters. Another plus, it plays in Arizona, a state usually a bit overlooked in UF book. There is no romance, ahh well maybe a tiny hint, and that is okay. you want romance, read a PNR book. There are no spoilers in my review and it might even be short, too much to the point. all i can say read the book, read the series and read the series again. As with previous entries in this series, this was a lot of fun to listen to. I'm not entirely clear on why Atticus hates Leif so much (I mean before Leif pointed his master at Atticus). I get that Atticus feels like Leif moving to Arizona to wait for the druid to arrive to help him kill Thor was a bit deceptive, but I always got the impression that Leif genuinely liked Atticus. Atticus just seems like he holds a grudge a bit longer than he needs to. I picked up this one not knowing anything about the series (I do that a lot, apparently). I found the idea of the druids fascinating and I don't think I have ever read a book that blended just about all the Gods of this world. Thought that was rather fun and original. Some of the parts I had to read twice- not because it wasn't written understandably but because my brain was automatically Did That Just Happen???? Whew! Atticus goes through a lot in his line of work. And dare i say I would really like to see all those tattoos he's sporting? Yes I dare! They sound neat and who doesn't like a guy with a little bit of ink? So, I give the series a thumbs up and say its worth the read. It is a different strain of UrbFan- not to say there isn't vampires and werewolves- but Atticus? He takes on Gods. Beat that! HTML:Druid Atticus Oâ??Sullivan hasnâ??t stayed alive for more than two millennia without a fair bit of Celtic cunning. So when vengeful thunder gods come Norse by Southwest looking for payback, Atticus, with a little help from the Navajo trickster god Coyote, lets them think that theyâ??ve chopped up his body in the Arizona desert. But the mischievous Coyote is not above a little sleight of paw, and Atticus soon finds that heâ??s been duped into battling bloodthirsty desert shapeshifters called skinwalkers. Just when the Druid thinks heâ??s got a handle on all the duplicity, betrayal comes from an unlikely source. If Atticus survives this time, he vows he wonâ??t be fooled again. Famous last words. In fact, now that I've thought about it, the relationships that Atticus has had in the series so far is one of the things that I like about the series and is seldom found in urban fantasies. Atticus is not a kick-ass loner with no close relationships living dark, solitary and on the edge. He is more like a regular guy who can do all of these extraordinary things. He has a lightness of spirit that isn't usually in urban fantasy.
I'm back to grinning about this series and looking for the next one. I may even start it over from book one. ( )
