Op dit moment geen Discussie gesprekken over dit boek. 4.75 StarsI strongly suggest that the first book of this series, Deadly Captive, be read before Collateral Damage. This second book continues the compelling story of Alrik's life and salvation.Collateral opens with daycare teacher Nicole reading the story 'The Worm's Hand'. When she leaves the school for the day her life is irrevocably changed. Kidnapped and delivered to Cyrus's world of unimaginable horrors that are tempered by her growing love of the captured boy, Alrik that she is to instruct. She endures sexual torture and dominance only surviving through her compulsion to save Alrik.Nicole struggles to understand the hatred, lust, and the scorn of her captivity. Conflicting feelings of love/hate evolve for her appointed dominant keeper Vince as she struggles to save the Alrik, herself, and Vince from the torturous evil control of Cyrus.I found Nicole's story impossible to stop reading the book once I started. Onderdeel van de reeks(en)Deadly Captive Trilogy (book 2)
Stolen from a bright life full of colors, happiness, and youth, Nicole Reed is dragged into a pit of pain and depravity where all she can hope for is a quick end. But her captors don't want to kill her. They want to use her to teach a little boy whom they plan to mold in their image. She must free him before that happens. Only she can't stand against those who hold him, not alone. Her only hope is Vince, one of her tormentors, who may still show a glimmer of humanity. Or maybe that's just a trick of the light. Definitely triggers in this book. For some reason they stood out more than the first book. After reading that book I was confused as to how this one was going to the in. However, it tied in and then some. Even though this was hard to read at times, there was something about it that sucked me in. These aren't the sparkly type of paranormal creatures that many have come to expect and they aren't like Brad Pitt. There is no crying here or showing signs of weakness. Oh, no. This is a ruthless world.
Very interested in seeing how this trilogy ends. (
