As fate would have it, I started reading this book just after I turned thirty (or thirtynothing) as the female protagonist calls it. All the descriptions of eating cheap curries made me crave a good curry today and I treated myself to one at lunch. I'm finding this book to be bitter sweet. There are some very funny bits and some very sad bits. On a one to one level I don't find myself relating to either protagonist. I married my college sweetheart and we're still happily married. This book is a glimpse of what could have been if I hadn't actively persued my then boyfriend (now husband). If you're single -- let me tell you this -- people don't read body language at all. If you like someone -- TELL THEM! :) This was a book of cliches... and not even well-woven ones at that. I should have gotten that from the cover, but I was always taught to never judge a book by its binding. I will be rethinking that lesson from now on. I considered not finishing it after about 20 pages, and after hitting a flashback to the teen years, I decided to suck it up and finish it. It took a day. I'm glad it cost me little else than a day's worth of reading and $1 on a clearance shelf. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
