Immortally Yours Angie Fox IN THE WAR BETWEEN THE GODS... No one patches up the incoming wounded like Dr. Petra Robichaud. Recruited by the gods for her uncanny medical skills, she's the best M*A*S*H surgeon in the army. Along with a nosy guard sphinx, vegetarian werewolf, and otherparanormal paramedics, she bandages soldiers who are built like Greek gods (literally). But when one sexy immortal ends up on her operating table--half dead and totally to-die-for--Petra's afraid she'll lose her patientand her heart... NOTHING IS MORE DANGEROUS THAN LOVE Commander Galen of Delphi is one gorgeous but stubborn demi-god. When his spirit tries to slip out of his fatally wounded body, Dr. Petra has to slip it back in--unwittingly revealing her ability to see ghosts. Now that Galen knows her secret, he's convinced she's part of an ancient prophecy. If the oracles are right, Petra could lead Galen's army to peace. And if he seduces her on the way to hell and back? Heaven knows--all's fair in love and war...… (meer)

While at times confusing, still a good read. I can't shake the feeling that this somehow started in the midst of a series though.... ( )

Something like a combination of MASH and the writing of Laurell K. Hamilton, this book is simply a lot of fun, and a great escape for readers of paranormal stories. From her entertaining characters to the fast-moving plot and an unavoidable romance between a mortal and a demi-god, Fox's work ends up being difficult to put down. Quickly as it moves, there's plenty of depth to the story and the characters, and the humor of everything made it a wonderful escape.

All told, I'm looking forward to the next in the series, and plan to pick it up sooner than later. ( )

I really wanted to like this book and I did, overall. The premise is unusual and intriguing and the characters were well developed. There were funny times and serious times throughout the book with a nice balance between the two. The action was consistent throughout and I wanted nothing more than to get back to the book instead of working for the man to keep Top Ramen in my cupboard

Characters wise, Angie created some great ones that were fun and interesting. Dr. Petra is a strong heroine who has the ability to see ghosts and Galen is the warrior hero that Petra saves (and who doesn't love an Alpha man huh?) Even the secondary characters are great.

The romance, however, felt a little underdeveloped. Petra and Galen have some amazing chemistry and their intimacy is off the charts. Unfortunately, I was left wondering how exactly they fell in love. I could see the potential but between the action and their time apart I'm not sure there was enough time to develop a completely believable love.

On a positive note I do think what shines in Immortally Yours is the world building. Having been a fan of M*A*S*H* since I was young (I had a secret crush on Hawkeye shhhhhh don't tell) I was in love with the setting before I even started the book. For this reason alone I would tell everyone to give this book a chance.

Drafted by the Gods to be a nurse to the wounded in the war between the old deities and the new, the heroine knows that she will die in the service without hope of escape. One day a soldier is brought into her camp with a knife wound. He dies despite her best attempt to save him but in her desperation, she grabs hold of his soul and drags it back into his body. In the process they forged a deep bond and understanding of one another but at the same time, she's let slip her secret powers. Prophecy dictates that a woman who can see the spirtis of the dead will use a magical knife to end the war of the gods. So it was decreed that everyone who has that ability will be killed. In her haste to save a good mans life, she's exposed herself. But the hero truly is a good man. Half god, he's spent all of his immortal years fighting in an enless war. He wants nothing more to see it end but more than that, he wants the heroine safe and protected. He's kindhearted, selfless and developes an instant and power attraction to the nurse. But the heroine fights him at every turn. Her fear rules her. Fear of discovery fear of death and fear of failure make her push him away. But fate is tricky and every attempt she makes to get ride of the sexy bodyguard, is foiled by little twisted of fate. I found myself liking some parts of the story but getting a bit antsy at others. Most of the book did drag for me. I found myself waiting for something to happen. But yes the book was very funny at times and did have a healthly mix of humor, angst and romance. I loved the heroine. An advide romance reader-woman after my own heart. I loved the hero- so strong and powerful and willing to do anything to end the blood shed and see the heroine protected. He never lost faith either in their mission or in her though she certianly gave him a run for his money in the stubborn department. But i did find myself growing bored with the filter content even though this world was surpreemly interesting and unique. Overall it was a decent book. ( )

Listen, peeps, I'm sure lots of people will like this book so much more than me. Unfortunately it was just not for me.

I got hooked by the first chapter because it was funny and unusual, but as I continued reading the book humour dwindled to almost nothing and angst rose way too much to be comfortable with the main hero and heroine.

I actually had no problem with Galen, he was consistent. It's Petra who was flopping around like fish out of water. She will, then she won't, then she will, then she won't. I got really tired of the emotional ups and downs.

Her angst made her behave like a petulant child and begrudge the improvements Galen made for her friends and colleagues in the camp, she also lost her spark and decisiveness of a good surgeon, and I just couldn't care for Petra anymore.

However the world itself is very interesting, and I would like it to be explored more. I especially loved the paranormal news network with the coverage of oracles wailing and tearing hair... It was hilarious.

Recommended to the fans of Alyssa Day, Jacquelin Frank and Elizabeth Naughton. ( )
