I absolutely loved this story, it is so nice to see lots of our old characters that we have fallen in love and see how their lives are now a days. More importantly we get hear about Mia and what her life is like, what she wants out of it, what she wants for love.

This was a super quickie Novella. It was good, kinda like a second chance book. I tend to enjoy the first time they meet books more, and novella's always seem too short. Glad I read it though. ( )

I am sure that my lack of familiarity with Jill Shalvis and her Lucky Harbor series contributed to my full enjoyment of this story.

It was a bit harder for someone like myself to fully connect with already established community and family dynamic and although the story was well told and can stand on its own, I believe if read in order, I would have enjoyed it better.

The characters of Mia and Nick as well as the situation they find themselves in, were all a bit rushed for my liking. But then, this was a short novella, and there’s so much an author can do.

Mia and Nick had different backgrounds as adopted children, and while she thrived in her family, Nick had a harder time of it. I wanted to feel Nick’s pain of being a neglected child, but didn’t manage because there was very little description of it. Yes I was told that he’d moved back and forth between foster homes, but there was just not enough of ‘feel’ into it.

Having past characters pop in and out of scenes was also distracting and confusing at times. Carlos was someone who I didn’t like much, but I bet you that the followers of this series were happy to see him appear. The same goes with the rest of Mia’s extended family, Ford and Tara, Mia’s biological parents; Chloe and Sawyer, the bride and groom of the wedding Mia’s attending.

In the end the story, for me at least, was just okay. For all you Jill Shalvis fans this will be a short, sweet, hot and sensual little novella that reunites a few characters you might have missed.

It's always great to take to trip to Lucky Harbor.

When we last saw Mia, her first love Carlos had set her free because it was the right thing to do. Mia went on to college in New York. She is now 22 and working on her graduate degree. She learned to adapt to New York living and is on her way to meet the man she has been dating for six months.

You can tell right away that Nick and Mia really like each other. They first bonded over something they both had in common, they both were given up when they were born. If you've read this series you already know that Mia was adopted by a loving family and then later she found her birth parents and has become a big part of there lives and family. Nick wasnt as fortunate. He drifted through the foster system his whole life and it has left him fearful of families and deep relationships.

When Mia ask him to accompany her to Lucky Harbor for Christmas and her Aunt Chloe's wedding he panics and leaves her standing there broken hearted.

Chloe goes on to Lucky Harbor determined to mark Nick in the lesson learned category.

Nick realizes right away he made a big mistake and takes off to Lucky Harbor to get Mia back.

Nick has to not only convince Mia his is serious but he also has to convince Maddie and Jax, Tara and Ford and Chloe and Sawyer oh and also Carlos.

It was nice to get to spend Christmas in Lucky Harbor along with Chloe and Sawyer wedding. Very touching book.

As always, I love anything by Jill Shalvis. Admittedly, I was slightly disappointed that Mia didn't end up with Carlos, but I still enjoyed the story. Jill's a fantastic writer and it's always fun to visit Lucky Harbor! ( )
