Five character studies in five stories make up this collection. To me, they all centered around some kind of love story. Not always a happy ending love story. It is a quick read and well written. My thanks to the author and LibraryThing for a complimentary copy. ( )

Table for One is collection of short stories into the human character. Characteristics presented are selfishness, loathing, misery, hope, and happiness. Most of the people were interesting, rich, and bold. The stories were intriguing, bold, and fascinating. I look forward to more of this author's work in the future. ( )

It was an easy-going reading which I liked very much. Daniel Kelley writes short stories which are grabed of the real life. Those stories could be experienced by everybody. In this book five persons declare their love life. Some are looking back what could have happened if years ago they would have done another twist in their relationship. They are lost in their memories and are very happy when they are returning to their present life. Others are struggling with their actual life and would like to know what the future will bring them. Received this book free from librarything member giveaways.

This is a collection of five stories, was a fairly quick and easy read, and that's actually about the best I can say about it, I think.

The fourth story, Jigsaw Puzzle, was the only story in this collection that I actually enjoyed. While all the stories are competently written, either thematic elements (A Summer Tale) or characters (the other three stories) meant I actively disliked the other four.

The first story, Full Circle, I did not like at all - the narrator was a deeply unpleasant personality, even - or perhaps especially - seen from his own point of view. Putting this as the first story in the collection was a mistake to me, as I almost stopped reading entirely before it ended.

The second story, A Summer Tale, was better - but the premise (that a woman would spend most of her life ostensibly waiting for the boy who seduced and left her when she was nineteen) left me somewhat out of sorts. Fortunately, this story was very nearly redeemed at the very end - enough to make me read on, at least.

The third story, Honesty, about an 'honest' conversation between a couple at the end of their relationship, was okay. But neither of the characters was particularly appealing, either.

The last story, Original Owner, was again a rather unpleasant character seen from his own point of view dissecting the history of his failed romantic relationships. Really, all I have to say about this one is: grow up.

I think the thing that bothered me most about this collection was that there was no room in here for the idea that aloneness is not equivalent to loneliness. Almost every character was either unpleasant (stories 1, 3, and 5), abused (story 4), or abandoned (story 2). Just... not worth it. ( )

I was given these short stories in exchange for an honest review.

These are all great stories! The author created very real characters. The stories each drew you in and made you feel like you were watching each person go through each situation and not just reading about it. The stories were weren't flawlessly and the author made each story stand out for different reasons. While my favorite was "Jigsaw Puzzle" the entire collection is a must read! ( )
