When the fairies arrive and see the house Pinkalicious built for them, they will be sooo excited! But will Pinkalicious and her companion be able to see them? Another installment in the Pinkalicious E-1 I Can Read series. Upfront admission: I am not a fan of the pinkalicious craze. The books seem slight at best and play into young girls' passion for pink and purple and young readers' pleasure in series. Pinky dances into the wrong dance class in this book, feels overwhelmed by the advanced kids before she (and the teacher) realize she's in the wrong class, but she wants to keep dancing and achieve a goal. The BEST part of the book, however, is its appendix, which explains how the I can read series started and then details what inspired each of a host of popular series. Delightful. And what a boon for teachers who are doing author studies with kids who get these tidbits to share about how authors conceived of their series. Pinkalicious and Peter build a fairy house and wait to see if they can spy a fairy in their springtime garden! This is a solid offering for beginning readers, using very basic words and simple sentences alongside illustrations that provide context clues if a child is struggling. I like that a positive relationship is shown between brother and sister as they work together to build a fairy house and that a childlike hopefulness remains at the end, rather than definitively saying fairies exist (or not). geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
