This starts as the heroine is boarding a plane with her ex and then we see the past relationship between them.
There is cheating but what I would say is regardless of how you feel about what happens, the heroine makes the Hero really, really work his way back. It takes a long time, years and she moves on with her life before we catch back up with where the story started.
In that time the Hero has really changed and proved himself to be improved. It's nice to see a heroine stick to her guns and not just accept things.

A beautiful story about a raw, emotional heartbreak.



Sparrow has the perfect family and a sweet boyfriend. However, when he proposes she can't help but crave the darker, mysterious man -Ian. They run into one another on several occasions and each time the connection grows deeper and deeper. Ian wants to maintain a long distance "situation" with no commitments, but eventually it leads to relationship and a heartbreak...



The heartbreak in this book gutted me. I fell for Sparrow and Ian's bond immediately and when I found out what Ian did... my jaw hit the floor. I was furious. Truthfully I wanted to throw the book. My heart ached for Sparrow and I envied the way she stuck to her guns. Even though her heart wanted Ian, she was strong and held him at arm's length.



Second chances is the theme of this story. While I loved some parts, others pissed me off. Cheating is never a turn on. When the book boyfriend commits this crime.... I have a hard time finishing the book. Sparrow is gutted and when she gives in, I am at a loss for words.



This book to me was not romantic... It was an agonizing roller coaster ride of emotions.



The writing was great. The concept was okay.

I recommend this book to readers who don't mind the book boyfriend cheating. ( )

Lo primero que tengo que decir es que la portada no cuadra para NADA con el libro. Nos hace creer que se trata de una historia oscura, o al menos complicada. Cuando en realidad True Love Story es una historia "ligera. No muchas complicaciones, no mucho antagonismo. Y en líneas generales un chick-lit.

No está mal escrita, no aburre -aunque por momentos si me parecía muy larga-, es decir en resumen está bien, para lo que se espera del género. El problema, es en realidad MI problema (y aquí ALERTA de SPOILER). Hay uno -o varios, dependiendo de como lo veas- engaños. Y eso para mi es imperdonable. Cada vez que algo así ocurre en una historia de amor queda totalmente arruinada para mi. Tengo un corazón malvado y para mi no existe perdón para esos hechos.

Por lo que luego de ese momento el libro fue en picada para mi y todo lo bello que había pasado antes quedó manchado. Si ustedes no tienen esa clase de problemas, y entienden el significado del perdón, es muy posible que si disfruten la historia. ( )

5 I loved this book. It is the story of Sparrow and Ian. Two people who continue to cross paths over a 5 year period where they share a lot of good times and some not so good ones too. The attraction between them is instant.

Sparrow’s thoughts of Ian… “You…are…trouble.”

Ian’s thoughts of Sparrow… “You’re going to break my heart, Sparrow Fisher.” And I think, Not before you break mine.-Sparrow.”

They learn that there is a steep age difference between them. Ian is an established singer/songwriter and rising rock star/ featured guitarist with other bands. Sparrow is just starting college. Their new relationship faces the struggles of constant separation, Ian is always traveling to different gigs around the country and Sparrow has to stay behind to finish school. There are many things Sparrow still is naive about and Ian's evasiveness doesn't help many of the ignored issues between them. All they know for sure is that they want to be together.

"I want Ian more than food or water. More than air.”- Sparrow

We learn in the first chapter that something has happened in their relationship to cause two years of separation between them…

"I sent him away. I’m mad that he went.- Sparrow"

They run into each other by chance at the airport and are about the board the same flight. Ian and Sparrow struggle with restraining those strong feelings of need for each other that have never gone away.

“He looks sleepy and obscene; I want to slap him and wrap my arms and legs around him and breathe his air…- Sparrow”

We do know that whatever happened between them was big!

“ I've never stopped loving you, Sparrow Fisher... I've never loved anyone but you.”
“It doesn't matter, Ian. Love…it means nothing at this point.”

Can their true love story end happily ever after or will we learn that sometimes love isn't enough?

My thoughts:

Ian is a heart breaker, and he had me at hello! I could relate to Sparrow’s naivety and how clueless she was about life. There were so many issues that needed to be discussed between them and it never occurred to her to ask questions until it was too late, which was frustrating. They were both blind and needed to grow and learn from their many mistakes, and oh man did they!

Un embole con personajes igualmente aburridos ...

However , si me gusta la idea de una historia de amor a traves de los años con breves encuentros esporádicos entre los enamorados .

Lo demás , lo usual : el rockero super famoso (o lo que sea que tiene de famoso) que se enamora de la mina que NO es famosa pero si irresistible a pesar de su personalidad de NADA . ( )
