Drusilla and Stevie head to Los Angeles to get her bracelet back and divorce her green-card marriage husband. But on their arrival murder and mayhem start to explode. Wow! ( ) 3 of 75 for 2015. Drusilla Thorne is not a private eye, but she's very much the hard-edged character you expect to find in a classic detective story. Diane Patterson has created a character who lives on the fringe, even though she grew up in the very lap of luxury. Taking care of her half-sister who objects to blasphemy, Drusilla has become adept at using Greek mythology for her curses, which only adds to the fun. Light and frivolous, yes, but a good read none-the-less. I look forward to reading more about Drusilla and her adventures. Deze bespreking was geschreven voorLibraryThing lid Weggevers. “You know Who I Am” is a fast-moving romp through Los Angeles. Diane Patterson has brought together elements of a mystery, a murder, characters with colorful backgrounds and a witness on the run. The reader is brought into the action and is filled in on the go as the protagonist, Drucilla Thorne, uncovers evidence about her husband's murder. The characters are interesting and fun as you get to know them however, the story moves too fast to really develop a foundation. The book was a pleasant, light-hearted read that ended before any real commitments were made by the characters or this reader. Hoping this author takes the time to build background into her next story which I look forward to reading. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
Onderdeel van de reeks(en)Drusilla Thorne (1)
Drusilla Thorne's husband Colin walks out on their marriage of convenience with style: he disappears right in the middle of their magic act. Before he vanishes, though, he steals a bracelet from her, a bracelet that could tip off the people who've been searching for Drusilla and her younger sister Stevie for years. Drusilla won't allow that to happen. When she finds Colin in Los Angeles, he's dead. Before dying, he got the both of them involved in a nasty game of Hollywood blackmail. The investigating detective finds out her identity is as fake as her marriage was and he's determined to find her guilty of something. Her lawyer might have more allegiance to the shadowy figure footing the bill than to her. And her sister does something Drusilla can only hope they live to regret. Drusilla had better figure out who killed Colin before everything comes apart and the police figure out who she really is. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
