English A means of studying the Bible following the lectionary system. Each week there is a new set of passages to study. Each begins and ends with a prayer from a patristic source or sacramentary. Each includes a reading from the OT, a response from the Psalms, a NT text, and a text from the Gospels. This edition provides comments from patristic literature on the OT reading, the NT reading, and upon the Gospel reading. While one may have disagreements with the "church calendar" as a fixed and bound thing, and will occasionally find hints of various denominational doctrines, a study by lectionary system provides the opportunity to be reminded of texts from all major Biblical sources (OT, Psalms, NT, Gospels), and even to find new connections among them. Rarely do the prayers advance some kind of denominational doctrine; many are quite compelling and worth incorporating into one's prayer life before God. Worthy of consideration at the least. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
