Bestselling inspirational author Wayne Dyer's classic parable, with a powerful message for achieving happiness here on Earth, now and forever. How would an intelligent visitor from another planet react to life on Earth? Would we welcome that visitor's presence and views? Are we ready for such an open exchange? Weaving together science fiction, spirituality, and philosophy with wisdom, humor, and plain common sense, Dyer tells the story of two peaceful beings from different worlds who work together to enhance the well-being of all. The gifts that Eykis, an alien traveling from a distant, Earth-like planet, brings to the people of Earth help them see themselves in a new light, and compel them to rethink their negative actions. Her insightful offerings will move you to new emotions, new behaviors, and a new understanding of humankind's limitless possibilities.… (meer)

Gifts From Eykis is psychologist Dr. Wayne Dyer's story, set as a science fiction tale, describing the ideals for a healthy and happy life.

An Earth traveler, as the story goes, finds himself on another planet in a civilization nearly identical to Earth except that the thought processes of these people are uniquely different. They have highly developed, stable mental/emotional quality to their health.

One of these inhabitants, a women named Eykis, comes back to our planet with the Earth traveler to observe human behavior. In doing so she provides insights for the "struggling Earthlings." She teaches them to focus only on those things over which they have control - themselves as individuals. She explains that people should look within rather than relying on and blaming others for problems. "Every-thing in the universe is exactly as it should be," she says, and highly recommends dreaming, fantasy, and the full use of the imagination as a means to mental and emotional good health.

Much of what Eykis has to say has been heard before, but Dyer does it in a very simple and fun format. ("Keep it simple," Eykis says of life.) A key to her "teaching" is to first straighten out your "self," and avoid dwelling on the past and future, looking inward for health and happiness. "There is no wav to happiness; happiness is the way," Eykis says in her no-nonsense approach.

Gifts From Eykis is a great book for all ages, and also makes a great gift.

Eight ways to tap into the power of intention and feel great every day:

1. Make meditation a regular practice in your life. You need to take time to get quiet, to go within, and from this silence make conscious contact with the source of intention. You're already connected to everything that you perceive as missing from your life; go with a realign.
2. Become conscious of the foods you eat. Foods high in alkalinity such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, soy, no yeast breads and virgin olive oil are high-energy foods and will strengthen you, while highly acidic foods such as flour-based cereals, meats, dairy and sugars lower energy and will weaken you.
3. Retreat from low-energy substance. Alcohol, cigarettes, caffeine, sugar and virtually all artificial drugs, legal or otherwise, lower your body's energy level and weaken you.
4. Become aware of the energy level of the music you listen to. Some rap music--filled with profanity and messages about killing, for example--is an energy drain, while music that has a more soothing impact on the soul has been proven to be beneficial.
5. Become aware of the energy levels of your home environment. Make your home a nurturing, cheerful and peaceful environment.
6. Reduce your exposure to low-energy commercial television. Children see 12,000 simulated murders on TV before their 14th birthday! Television news puts a heavy emphasis on the bad and the ugly, leaving out the good.
7. Enhance your energy field with photographs. Every photograph contains energy. Carry and display photos taken in moments of happiness, love and receptivity.
8. Become conscious of the energy levels of your acquaintances, friends and extended family. Choose to be in close proximity to those who are empowering, who see the greatness in you, who feel connected to spirit.
It's not what happens around us, or to us, but within us that really counts, but when it comes to applying it.
Problems arise in communication when; people do not communicate truthfully.
I observed that most people:
1. Live in either past or future.
2. Take a pill to cure things
3. Dissatisfied with themselves
4. Chase success but seem never satisfied
5. Always wanting more of this or that: possessions
6. Suffer from unnatural fears called phobias
7. Do not love self
8. Cannot love others

Why do so many go to therapists for help?
1. Anger
2. Procrastination
3. Anxiety
4. Self contempt
a. All are neurotic behaviors

Why do we use up our precious moments for living by worrying about something which we cannot do anything about? It is pointless.
Guilt: if you do something that you dislike, such as use bad language to your parents, you close your eyes and just feel guilty for one minute and then release it and go about your day.
Guilt is a sign to change your behavior and thinking process.
A good solution: Live only in the present moment!
When people are living fully in the moment there is no need to cause hurt or pain to others.

You become obsessed by what you have done or have not yet done, this guilt is not reality. It is your mental state. There is no guilt. Learn from your mistakes and avoid bad or negative behavior and vow to make a mental note to change it. All the guilt does is STOP you from correcting your behavior.
Guilt thoughts are:
* Should have
* Would have
* Could have
o thoughts but they are only thoughts

By saying you should have -people are telling other people that they did not do something as well as they might have. What purpose is served by rehashing what you should or shouldn't have done? It's over, done with! Forgive yourself and others and move ahead.

Why are people afraid of elevators? It is the attitude people have towards small, closed spaces. But in reality elevators scare me is not true, it's your thoughts that create that reality.
What is acrophobia?? It is the fear of heights or high places.

First you chose to think anxiously, and then you blame the results on anxiety itself, rather than on your own choices. This thought process behind saying I am having this or that attack...

When people assign responsibility for their anxiety to some mythical anxiety attack, they need a second myth to correct the original. The second myth is the antidote, such as a tranquilizer, will rid them or their imagined anxiety.
You have power over what you decide to think. This is your reality.
Most people have learned to make an incorrect choice because it's easier to blame someone else for their anxiety than to accept responsibility for it and rid themselves of it.
People want to avoid taking responsibility for their problems including their anxiety. This gives them an excuse when it comes to doing what is necessary to change.
Wrong way reality

Incorrect choices
You chose unhappiness by blaming someone or something else for your problems, circumstances, etc.

HINT: blame account/Blame bank: Just take the blame and put it into the blame bank or account and leave it there. Let it go.

Blaming others lets you avoid having to take risks. It makes it easy to explain why they are unfulfilled, and it reduces the options they have to change.
Blaming the poison, rather than themselves for the ill effects. It's like blaming the mirror for what it reflects.

How can the stock market control a person's emotions? I checked into the stock market and I found that it has no connection with human emotional conditions, yet I heard many, many people blaming the market for their unhappiness.

People in fact, elect their _______________through self-defeating choices, and then blame others for their conditions.
Everything seems to be in the blame category. It all seems to boil down to self responsibility vs. blaming others.
Obviously those who accept responsibility for themselves and live their lives are few and far between.
