Totally over the top and semi-ridiculous with one-twoo-wuv syndrome, but gosh darn it, that was fun. Except towards the end when the sex scenes started overtaking the actual story. I confess that I started skimming those. I may actually read the next in the series. ( )

All in all, this book was well paced with plenty of detail. The Author seemed to know their characters and how'd they would react to certain situations. The Author makes the characters come to life in this story!

Raven Morretti is a 20 year-old female mechanic who, in the beginning, was a little shy and sweet. Her dreams are to one day take over the shop from her boss Guy, who was basically a father too her. Raven has a dark past and connections that morphed her into the person she is now. Being raised by her prostitute mother left her wanting for more, she never really showed affection for her and Raven grew up lonely. Her father is a cold, cruel, pimp who she's never really known and because of his infamous reputation, Raven isn't very forth coming with her last name and tends to keep it under wraps. Until she meets Jonah.

Jonah "the Assassin" Slade is a playboy UFL champion who has a little dark history himself. His father died in a hit-and-run that left Jonah angry with the world. His release is fighting, anything and anyone and that's why he became a UFL fighter. Jonah is made out to be super hot, super sweet, and a big giant neanderthal. He doesn't "Hit the same honeypot twice" Until he meets Raven.

Jonah is fixing up an old car and hired Raven to do the job. From the get-go these two clearly have mega sparks flying every time they're near each other. Jonah is determined to ignore her due to the fact he has a big fight coming up and he doesn't want any distractions. However, with all those sparks flying things are only bound to heat up. And just when things were getting good, a phone call crashes any thought of a future together. Now Raven and Jonah struggle to maintain hope and fight their demons together, just for that happily ever after. Will love conquer all?


Let me just say...

Jonah is HOT HOT HOT and hes DEFINITELY made it onto my book-boyfriend list.

Some people would say the couple moved to fast but in my opinion, the Author added enough detail and enough chemistry to make it work. You can tell from the beginning that these two are head-over heels for each other. Jonah gives Raven the confidence she needs to come to terms with her past and the internal struggle is made obvious to the reader.

I would recommend this to anyone who likes contemporary romance!

Gritty, emotional story of love conquering evil.

In this first book about Mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters we met Jonah Slade who's never had a serious relationship in his life. Its all about winning the fights and getting laid. That is until he meets the mechanic that has been recommended to restore one of his classic cars.

Raven Morretti was bred by her pimp father. Her mother who was one of his prostitutes never showed any love or emotion for Raven while she was growing up. Raven who's never been into girly things took shop in high school and the teacher ended up taking her under his wing and now at 20 she works for him. Cars and Guy have been her family for years. Then she meets Jonah.

This was not a traditional love story. But it was a beautiful one none the less. Even with all the ugly and evil that bred Raven she was purity and Jonah changed his spots to be her knight.

Even with the dark theme that hung over for most of the book the secondary character of Blake, Jonas friend and fellow fighter, was pure comic relief and also a good man to have by your side during a fight. Looks like his story is next and he soo needs to eat some of his words :) ( )

A good book. I really enjoyed reading it. A solid 4 stars for me. ( )
