Legal Affairs is a serial. It has six volumes that will be released every two weeks, the first one, entitled Objection, on January 10, 2014.
With that warning in mind - go grab it. Now!! This is a wonderfully funny, sexy read that you do not want to miss. Happens all the time right, girl has an incredible one night stand, girl finds out she has a great new job at a high powered law firm. Great weekend!! Then comes Monday and you meet your new boss. NO NO NO it can't be! Like I said you don't want to miss it!!! Highly recommended read for the 18 crowd. ( )

Mac is beautiful lawyer with a terrible boss, a lusty and supremely wealthy best friend, a beautiful apartment she shares with said lusty best friend and, up until a few months ago, a boyfriend. Thanks to her ridiculous work schedule. Mac has very little time to devote to her social life but a girl still has needs, right? Mac’s best friend, Macy is “. . .perhaps the weirdest, most ostentatious, and most deviant socialite that New York has ever seen” (location 24) so it should come as no surprise that Macy has just the thing to satisfy Mac’s “needs”. The service is called One Night Only and it is an absolutely exclusively club that provides just what the name says, one night only with a suitable companion.

Mac is all kinds of on board with the One Night Only program and at the prescribed time, she meets her suitable companion, Mr. #134 – and what a suitable companion he is! It takes Mac about a nanosecond to decide her night with Mr. #134 is absolutely going to happen and if he performs as good as he looks, it will be one epic night. Quite frankly, after the night Mac and Mr. #134 share, epic doesn’t even come close and with the whole one night only rule, Mac is able to walk away totally satisfied and completely guilt-free. But sometimes the rules get broken and when Monday morning rolls around, Mac discovers just how broken the one night only rule really is. Turns out, when Mac shows up to work her new boss is none other than the delectable Mr. #134. Bugger all!! To Mac’s credit, she handles herself brilliantly and only when she is alone in her new office does she allow herself to freak out, just the tiniest little bit.

Mr. #134, also known as Matt is, in real life a ferocious and highly successful lawyer. He owns his own firm, is utterly blunt about his sexual needs and desires and makes no apologies to anyone about how he chooses to live his life. All of that seems to fly right out the window though when Mac walks into his conference room and shatters his generally calm demeanor. In fact, Mac’s presence unnerves Matt to the point that he becomes angry, storms into Mac’s office and makes a complete and total ass out of himself! Again, Mac handles herself and the asshat brilliantly!!! Seriously, her response to him during this little tiff is fantastic and I cheered her on the whole time. Once the tempers have cooled and both Matt and Mac have come back to their senses, they decide they’ll just ignore the sexual tension and work together as nothing more than professionals. HA!! I love it when characters think they can ignore sexual tension 

The Bottom Line: Objection was my very first Sawyer Bennett book (stop judging!!) and I was totally blown away!! Objection is absolutely a character-driven read and I adored both characters. Mac is fierce and confident and owns her attitude while Matt is sexy and arrogant (though he seems to follow through!) yet still able to be unnerved by a woman who is both challenging and unwilling to back down in the face of his asshatery. The conversations and confrontations between Mac and Matt are as stimulating as the sex they have and I found myself quite irritated that the read ended so quickly. Suffice it to say, I am quite excited to see the publication of the second installment in the Legal Affairs series!!
