The screenplay is not as blatant as all this sounds. It has taken Rona Jaffe’s novel and simmered it down somewhat. If not wit, it is still several cuts above office wisecracking.... The perfomances are generally good, although there is no real chance for developments. Parker, burdened with the most difficult emotional role, is least successful.
