Ik heb pas de eerste 2 jaren uit het dagboek van Samuel Pepys gelezen. Ik vond het maar matig interessant maar om meer over Pepys te weten te komen heb ik deze biografie over Pepys gelezen. Pepys is vooral bekend geworden door zijn dagboek over de jaren 1660-1669 dat pas in het begin van de 19e eeuw voor het eerst werd gepubliceerd. Dit dagboek is vooral bekend om zijn openhartigheid, niet alleen over zijn werk, zijn huwelijksleven maar bijvoorbeeld ook over zijn talrijke avontuurtjes met allerlei vrouwen. Deze biografie geeft een goed beeld van zijn leven en is interessant geschreven. Zonder meer de moeite waard! ( )
