I'm invested in the characters at this point. I do have some cons though. In the interest of disclosure, I feel readers should know the first 3 books stop at 80% where you then can read full chapter excerpts from other books. These books are integrated with other series books by this author which makes the reading order not work well. I have only been reading this series in order. When I began Shade, I could tell right away, I had missed a thing or two. It starts off in the future where one main character is married to a character from another series....say what? It's a bit confusing and the author does not specify the time frames. It then goes into the "now" time frame for Shade/Lily's story. FYI...this book has a couple of word for word chapters from the first 3 books until 30% of the book. It does finish further along at 94% with the usual excerpt at the end. In reality, you are not getting a full book with each one. I did like the epilogues that went out in time a long way. ( ) I have been waiting and waiting for Shade's book to come out. I want to start out by saying that the book was really well written and I felt that Lily's story was well done. The reason for the loss from 5 stars was for the lack of Shade's story in the book. I really was hoping for more back story from him as well as more written from his perspective. The book held my attention and I didn't want to put it down so I finished it in one day. Can't wait for more from Jamie Begley! Amazing and I loved it. This was the story that kept building from the beginning of the series and I just couldn't wait until I've read it. This book packed quite a punch to it: Shade with his patience and his ability to make sure Lily faced her fears and held ups, Lily who we can see getting stronger and stronger and coming out of her shell to be the woman she was always destined to be: someone with a backbone and an inner strenght to put others to shame. I'm glad I followed the reading order and could appreciate how all the stories come together in the end. This here amazed me to no ends. Well I was at a 1 star rating all the way to 66%. Then it finally, FIANLLY started picking up and getting a bit interesting. I didn't need 300 pages of how screwed up, insecure and weak Lily was. I got enough of that in the first 3 books. It's why I waited so long to read it... I had to get my courage up to have a whole book about her. I almost gave up and that would have been a shame. The last 33 % of the book really picked up. 122 pages wasn't NEARLY enough for everything that was going on. The book needed a reversal less in the beginning and more in the end. I've struggled with this series and just not sure (at this point) if I'll read more in the series. So, I star for the first 66% and 3 stars for the last... equals to 2 stars in that it was just an okay read for me. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
Onderdeel van de reeks(en)
Shade is everything Lily doesn't want in a man. He's rude, obnoxious, and definitely not a cowboy. The tattooed enforcer for The Last Riders is a mystery Lily doesn't want to solve. He's too much for her to handle, especially with the nightmares from her past constantly threatening her sanity. Lily is everything Shade wants in a woman. She's sweet, kind, and submissive. When she discovers the truth about The Last Riders, it threatens to tear apart every relationship within the club. Her rebellion causes the predatory instincts to rise in the ex-Navy SEAL sniper. When The Last Riders are threatened by another motorcycle club just as determined to claim Lily, Shade is her only hope of surviving the approaching confrontation. Could their passion be Shade's downfall? Contains mature themes. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
