There's nothing groundbreaking here, and a fair amount of the standard fantasy tropes. But, for all that, I still found it entertaining as hell, and a neat twist with the missing child coming back as a powerful warrior.

The writing is good, and the art is superb.

Your standard parallel magical world, child turned hero, childhood escapism with a few little twists to keep it new. It's well put together and the art and pacing are great but there's nothing really original or inspirational about it which would make me want to read more. ( )

An interesting and different take on the ‘young boy taken to a magical land to fulfill his destiny as its savior’ trope. While hitting all the notes you’d expect it also covers fresh ground in examining the impact of the boy’s disappearance, and subsequent return, on the family left behind, while throwing several unexpected plot twists into the mix. A compelling foundation that set up the world, quest, and characters strongly enough for us to want to pick up the next volume. ( )

This was cool and I liked the artwork. They used a twist on the "guy comes back to Earth and has to save the world" plot and that has left on edge, wondering how everything will be resolved. ( )
