He tells his friends what to do, and this effects his relationships with them. In the end, Franklin figures out that it would be best to not be bossy to your friends. Reflection: This book would be great to use when teaching empathy and showing students how to treat others with kindness. This is a book that could be repeated many times. This story has two main messages, the first message is it’s important to take turns and share; the second message is to take fault when you’re wrong. In my opinion this is a great children’s book because of its plot and characters. The book is very organized; It presents a clear conflict and solution. The conflict was that Franklin wanted to play baseball and bear didn’t; they ended up not arguing and not playing with each other because they were in disagreement. They resolved their problem by apologizing to each other. I think this really pushes the reader to ponder how they go about solving conflicts, and how they could make better decisions. I also like that even though the characters are animals, they demonstrated believable characteristics of a child. The beginning of the text described these characteristics, “Franklin the turtle could zip zippers and button buttons. He could count by twos and tie his shoes. He had lots of friends and one best friend, named Bear. They played tag and marbles, hopscotch and ball.” As soon as the text begins the reader is able to develop a connection with the characters in the book. Franklin is a great series of books that kids love. This one is about how Franklin is bossing his friends around and they don't like it. They get mad and end up getting in a fight. Franklin ends up apologizing realizing he is wrong and they all make up. I used this as a problem/solution book to teach that apologizing is a way to solve a problem. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
