I received this book free to read and review, and the words in the review are mine. "Love in a cala: A Mediterranean Romance Novel", is a fun, easy reading romance. It is a great summer read or vacation read. Albeit, a bit predictable, but entertaining and fun! Thank you for giving me the chance to read your novel, I also enjoyed "Love in a Boat". ( ) `Cala', it is the Spanish word for `cove'. In this novel, Tessa and Luka (Luke) meet in the cove and Luke informs her that the cala is his privately owned beach land and she is trespassing. He declares her the “sexiest thing to wash up on my beach for a long time” and the sparring between the characters begins! Luke is the lead singer in a band called the Fallen Angels. Tessa is trying to make her way as a classical ballet dancer by dancing in a chorus until she injures herself in the cala and has to recuperate at Luke’s house. Luke’s dog, “Frisby” is a wonderful addition to the novel. I also read “Love in a Boat” by this author which I enjoyed more than this novel. I wanted to like Luke, but even for a Spaniard, his machismo was pretty over the top. I also did not like so many references to Tessa thinking she was too heavy to be a dancer and not attractive. Although I enjoyed meeting Luke’s pregnant and compassionate sister, “Africa” and other characters, I was not sure what the addition of the anorexic niece, Mariela, brought to the story, unless a future book is planned about her. Her problems seemed a bit too dire to be solved so quickly. I was pleased to have met this author through a win on LibraryThing and look forward to reading her next novel. Carla is a creative author who can help bring back the fun of vintage Harlequins and stories like those written by Betty Neels with amazing settings, protagonists who actually interact, instead of just hitting the sheets, interesting side plots as well as unique family pets. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
