Seemed a little long for the elementary list but it's about 4th graders so.... Fun book set in Texas, they make lots of references to cowboys and country music. Talks about bullying and how rumors are bad. I liked that the main character actually had consequences for her misbehavior and learned from it. Writing was a little forced but overall, pretty decent book. This chapter book has surprising depth to it. I originally believed it would be a happy-go-lucky story but quickly learned otherwise. I feel like this would be a very relatable story to young girls because many of them have to deal with mean girls and fake friends at some point in their life. This story shows you that you can't just blindly believe all of the rumors and you really need to give everyone a chance because they will probably surprise you. I loved this book, I feel like it really takes readers through a series of emotions in an appropriate way. I would definitely recommend this book and feel like it would most definitely be appropriate for a classroom as well. I loved this book! geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

These books are definitely beyond the attention span of most 5yos but going through the entire Ramona Quimby series twice primed my daughter for it. I think she understands the stories pretty well. The plot is realistic and relatable. The themes are mostly handled in a lighthearted way. Mya has funny catchphrases like "soggy samosas!" and "boo-yang." Overall, it definitely falls on the younger end (ages 7 to 10) of the middle-grade spectrum (ages 7 to 14). ( )
