The publisher says, When is a list also a poem? When it's a list poem! List poems can be funny or serious, rhymed or unrhymed. This book describes what a list poem is at the beginning and encourages kids to go and write their own. It also contains a number of list poems that kids can identify with. Simple things like what a group of kids do on and off the bus, the ties their teacher has, descriptions and things that identify the neighbours and of course a poem on snot. Lots of fun while also teaching a type of poetry. I absolutely loved the illustrations. They are fun, colourful, vivid and alive with action. This is a wonderful book for school and class libraries. It would also be a great one for family libraries and could be used to develop vocabulary in young children as well. I received a copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This was a very interesting collection of list poems. I’m not exactly sure on what the author was trying to do. I know he wanted to show a different type of poem, but the title of the book only coincides with one poem. It was kind of confusing to me. All the poems were nice and they would be good poems for kids to read and get an idea of a different type of poem. The students that read these poems were enjoyed them. The author used rhyming for some of the poems. There isn’t an underlining meaning to these poems, because they are stating exactly what they are talking about. The pictures also give the reader a clue that the poems mean exactly what they are saying. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
