This book is about a dog who loves being the only pet, but one day his family gets a cat, and he has to learn that there is enough love for two pets to be in the family. This book would be good for kids who are getting a new sibling. This is a really good teaching book for young children to make room for more family members, possibly. The children I read this to enjoyed the book and illustrations. This book is about a cat that comes home with the dogs owners and they decide to keep it. The dog is not happy about this and does not think there is room for the cat. By the end of the story the dog learned its' lesson and made room in his home and heart for the new family member. A good classroom extension idea may be to ask children to write about a time that they had to make room in their lives for someone new and how it affected them. My daughter received this book free from the imagination library. I want to start off by saying that this book made almost no sense to me. It jumped around a lot. Like going from the kids showing the dog the cat to the dog park on the next page... I personally wasn't impressed this book. It does try to teach kids about friendship and how it can come from anywhere but it doesn't really get that point across since the dog essentially bullies the cat by locking him outside... As other reviewers stated, why would the cat be coming to your house anyways and why was it allowed at the DOG park to start with, let alone without its owners? My daughter liked the book but she quickly passed it on for another book and that just shows me that she wasn't really interested in it, more the idea that she got a new book. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
