I did purchase the book because I thought it would have been a great mystery. I thought the overall plot was a great idea. An English photographer, Susie Thomas, comes to New York to display her “art” in an exhibit for the same gallery as her friend Maxine Doubleday. Susan’s underlining reason however was to search for the truth about her friend’s suicide. There was a great deal of erotic behavior that Susan used for her art, which I did not think was relevant to the overall story; I felt it was fluff added to make for a longer story. I struggled through the entire middle of the book and finally got to a page turner for the last 20 pages. ( )Deze bespreking is geschreven voor LibraryThing Vroege Recensenten. I really liked this book, it's the most enjoyable Early Reviewers book I've read. The characters were fascinating to me with the antagonist remaining sympathetic till the end. Considering his crimes, that's saying a lot! The sex scenes were very well done, which is so difficult to do, and while there was a touch of mysticism (which would have turned me off), it wasn't heavy-handed or overdone. Really, really good job here. I will be looking for other books by the author. Deze bespreking is geschreven voor LibraryThing Vroege Recensenten. I did not read the Early Reviewers description of this book carefully enough. What I took from it was art world and mystery and this is true, Maxine Doubleday's exhibit at Felix Baum's gallery in New York is not well received and she commits suicide. A year later an English photographer, Susie Thomas, is in New York preparing an exhibit for the same gallery and she has a connection to Doubleday. The question becomes did Maxine Doubleday jump from the bridge or was she pushed? I did not read the entire book just the beginning and the end, which confirmed a couple of suspicions I had from the opening chapters. I didn't find the book very well written and I don't think the erotica was necessary to the plot. If I had read the book blurb more carefully I wouldn't have requested it. It is other people's taste just not mine. I do like the cover, it represents the title well and in a print edition would be very eye catching on a book store shelf. I was asked to review this by Librarything.com.To be honest I was rather skeptical after reading the Fifty Shades series where the author's writing skills left a lot to be desired. This author can write and although this was erotic there was a good story line to this thriller. I found myself wanting to know what happened so was racing to the finishing posts, the characters worked, interesting plot set in the art world. The erotic scenes were well written and enjoyable, I did not find as I have done in other erotic books flicked to the erotic scenes- there was a good balance. This author's genres include historical fiction, erotic and thrillers. I am now seeking out this author. Deze bespreking is geschreven voor LibraryThing Vroege Recensenten. I received this book as part of the Early Reviewers. This is an erotic book that tells the story of Felix a New York gallery owner who has an obsession with discovering new artist. He wants to discover them and consume them. It tells the story of his conquest and what he does to them and to their lives. The characters are original and interesting. The book kept me reading to find out what was going to happen.
"Picture This" provided some good insight into the world of modern art, which I appreciated. The characters in this novel, however, did not come across as sympathetic or very realistic; it feels as if the author is trying so very much to be shocking. As a result, I did not care about the plot; I read the novel with a focus on the descriptions of the art and the art world.
