This was a brilliant, literary, science-fiction read. While it won't necessarily be to the taste of those who like fast-paced stories, it has exceptional depth, and, as the best works of the genre do, it provokes a thoughtful examination of our times, our future, and what it means to be human. Deze bespreking is geschreven voor LibraryThing Vroege Recensenten. Very intriguing book about existential concepts dealing with immortality and love. The protagonist starts out as a young and disadvantaged child and the story follows him through middle age where the book concludes. The boy’s older brother is one of the main antagonists. This construct reminded me of Enders Game without the space battles. The characters were engaging and well developed and the storyline had me hooked early on. This book was translated from Italian and could use one more English review to clean up the final few anomalies caused by the translation. They are barely noticeable so don’t let that keep you from picking this page turner up. A mixed bag. Well written but not a totally plausible storyline. It's basically about trans-humanism but the central character is unlikeable, the females are just names with random characteristics assigned, and the world-building is a bit jumbled. Also, if I never hear the word "kipple" again I will be pleased! Deze bespreking is geschreven voor LibraryThing Vroege Recensenten. Lots of others have reviewed this work, describing the plot, characters, a various messages they found in the writing; and so I will leave it to you to read their reviews. I found the first person dialog for the main character to be depressing and sad. Perhaps this is due to the author's description of life in the future, but as one reviewer pointed out we only see a segment of the population in the future, the bottom of the economic heap, so to speak. Consequently, it is no surprise that the outlook and prospect from this vantage are depressing. Fortunately the book is short and quickly read. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

But when Peter finds beauty in the world in the shape of Alba, an advanced model female nexhuman, he finds purpose...and love. When Charlie and The Dead Bones destroy Peter's dreams for the future, Peter embarks on a quest to rebuild the object of his obsession. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
