"A captivating memoir that will change the way we look at identity and equality in this country. Before she became the first transgender person to speak at a national political convention in 2016 at the age of twenty-six, Sarah McBride struggled with the decision to come out--not just to her family but to the students of American University, where she was serving as student body president. She'd known she was a girl from her earliest memories, but it wasn't until the Facebook post announcing her truth went viral that she realized just how much impact her story could have on the country. Four years later, McBride was one of the nation's most prominent transgender activists, walking the halls of the White House, advocating inclusive legislation, and addressing the country in the midst of a heated presidential election. She had also found her first love and future husband, Andy, a trans man and fellow activist, who complemented her in every way ... until cancer tragically intervened. Informative, heartbreaking, and profoundly empowering, Tomorrow Will Be Different is McBride's story of love and loss and a powerful entry point into the LGBTQ community's battle for equal rights and what it means to be openly transgender. From issues like bathroom access to health care to gender in America, McBride weaves the important political and cultural milestones into a personal journey that will open hearts and change minds. As McBride urges: 'We must never be a country that says there's only one way to love, only one way to look, and only one way to live.' The fight for equality and freedom has only just begun."--Jacket.… (meer)

I want EVERYONE to read this book! It is poignant, captivating, and heartfelt but what makes it truly exceptional is McBride's ability to balance the personal and the political. Her story is both deeply intimate and universally significant.

"It's rare to know in real time that what you are about to do will define the course of the rest of your life. But as I sat at my laptop in the small office I have been given as student body president at American University, I knew that my world was about to turn upside down."

It is with these words that Sarah McBride opens her memoir. In the moments that followed she posted a Facebook note that announced to the world she was trans.

With unwavering honesty and vulnerability, McBride shares her experiences, triumphs, and setbacks, leaving readers with a profound understanding of the struggles faced by the transgender community while also acknowledging her place of privilege within it.

She invites readers into her innermost thoughts, fears, and hopes, while also shedding light on the broader challenges faced by transgender individuals in society as highlighted by her political activism, her work as an intern in the white house, her work on trans recognition bills and also being the first transgender speaker at a major political convention just in 2016. This dual perspective ensures that the book resonates not only with those who share similar experiences but with anyone seeking to understand and support the transgender community.

Sarah McBride's memoir will leave an indelible mark on your heart and ignite a passion for justice and equality that will extend far beyond the pages of this remarkable book. ( )

i knew nothing about Sarah McBride before i read this book, but now i wish i knew her before when all the events in this book we're happening in real time. this book was so good. some parts of it felt long and sometimes i wanted to shake Sarah for being too polite when i thought she should've reacted differently to situations, but overall, this book was beautiful and i'm glad Sarah shared her story with everyone. i think Sarah is a super empowering person and this book made me hopeful for the future even with everything going on in today's world ( )

Very powerful story. The author has done so much for the transgender community and continues to work for the betterment of the LBGTQ community as a whole. It was interesting to see behind the scenes in the policy and political process. ( )
