This is a book of smaller poems and they are all nonfiction. This is a fun way to present nonfiction science topics. I think students so often feel nonfiction books are boring and can only be one way. This book goes through dinosaurs to plants season changes to prisms/ reflections. This book covers so much and does so with great poems. You could use this book to teach science and literacy. This is a great book of poems. During poetry week I would read a poem a day out of this book during science time. I love how it went through finding out about different things including wind, snowflakes, and dinosaur bones. I think the children will love it. This will be on my classroom library shelf. Each page has a poem about science and how the students can get more involved in experiments. These poems encourage young readers to explore the world of science. For example, they can explore dinosaur bones, animals, snowflakes and even paying attention to the seeds as they grow, these subjects can definitely be interesting to some children or readers. The illustrations are very colorful and catch the readers interest, I know it definitely caught my attention and interest. This can be used for a science lesson or a English Language Arts lesson because they are both interrelated here. I would definitely use this book in my science lesson because we can take a poem and explore it more in depth. Great book! This is a book filled with poems that explores broad ideas such as: what is science?, seeds, using a microscope, magnets, metamorphosis, and more. Not only does this book ask questions to provoke additional ideas, inquiry, but it is written in a different form: poetry. This demonstrates to students an additional way to write informational texts. Excellent book of poetry explaining science in a fun rhythmic way for children. The book takes the readers on the journey of many different areas of science. The book doesn't go into to much detail on the science topics. This book would be excellent to read to children in a class getting them ready to discover science. The book is not overwhelming with facts like many other science books. I think having it written in poetry form also helps in giving the children a break from everyday style books. Not only does the book help children get excited for science it also gets them excited to learn how to write poetry. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
