The stick that starts as part of a tree, journeys around the world being used by various animals for various purposes. From a fly swatter, to a gift and a toy for children it is fun and imaginative to see how many ways this simple stick can be used. The large, colourful illustrations are wonderful to look at and discuss. I say two books in one because you can read the large print and make it a simple story for little ones, or add in the smaller factual text that explains what the animals are doing or how they use the stick. The great thing about this story is that the ending is the same as the beginning. My grandson wanted me to go back to the beginning and start again. The end also contains additional information about the animals in the story that can also be used as a jumping off point to read about them in other books. Children could also use this story as a jumping off point to imagine what other items might be used for by various animals or people. A nice addition to a family, classroom, or school library. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley. Through beautiful artwork, we follow the journey of a stick as it is used by different animals in turn, to aid in food gathering, as a flyaway, and much more. Finally, the stick falls into the hands of several children, whose vibrant imagination makes use of it as a plaything. Lastly, it becomes a sturdy prop that supports a tiny sapling, that will eventually grow into a tree to supply many more sticks that may become tools or toys for other animals. Each entry has a brief fact about the use in question. At the end of the book, there is a section with other notes about the animals in question, or regarding human uses for sticks. ***Many thanks to Netgalley and Star Bright Books for providing an egalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
A stick is just a stick, that is until animals and humans discover they make effective tools and amusing toys. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
