John W. Mosley, an African-American photographer, lived from 1907 to 1969. His photographs are provocative, giving an insider's view of an African American community not many have experienced. This book is the first of its kind that shows the value of the Black community. A picture is worth a thousand words & his legacy has left us with thousands of photographs to enjoy. He not only captured rich traditions & things that Black people held dear, but also societal responses to events such as World War II, the post-war years & the civil rights movement. The photographs are of the same dignity & strength of celebrated world photographers. His instinctive eye to frame a shot allows the viewer to be in the middle of the action. Mosley's human subjects characteristically reveal a joy in the immediate activity or circumstance in which his lens has captured them. His wife commented that, "His eye was on the positive."To order call Quantum Leap Publisher, at 1-800-843-1066. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
