I love Lisa Scottoline’s novels and didn’t know she did collaborations with her daughter. This book had some funny essays, and I definitely related more to Francesca’s stories, probably because we are around the same age. I enjoyed the beginning of the book, but it started to get repetitive and felt a little drawn out. I do think the audio version hearing the authors tell their stories themselves may keep my interest a little longer. *I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.* This collection does contain some humor, though it is not the funniest book in the series by a long shot. Lisa spends a lot of time poking fun at becoming old and Francesca’s tales of bad dates and other problems just aren’t that memorable. We learn of the death of Lisa’s beloved dog and in an extra bit tacked on as a bonus, we again can hear Francesca’s account of Mother Mary’s last days in hospice. If you want to be reminded of these things, by all means, listen to this collection, but if not, my advice is to skip it. I have read several of these essay books by Lisa and Francesca and I enjoy them. They are a collection of short anecdotes (newspaper column-type) of their lives. This book highlights many humorous moments in their lives and allows you a peak at various areas such as their love life, pets, jobs, friends etc. The authors poke fun at themselves and at each other yet nothing is ever said in a mean-spirited way. It is obvious they have an incredibly close relationship. Throw in the jokes and jibes that come with a large Italian family, body changes, wardrobe malfunctions, technology and phobias and everyone will find something in this book that they can identify with and laugh at themselves. These are great books that I would recommend to other mothers and daughters so they can see the other side of the coin. Because each story is a short chapter this is a great book for busy people because they can pick it up and read a story in between their busy tasks. Women will definitely enjoy this book and probably all the others this mother/daughter team has written. I am definitely going to continue reading these humorous books so I can laugh at both my and their lives. We need that. The publisher, St. Martin's Press, generously provided me with a copy of this book to read and enjoy, the rating, ideas and opinions are my own. The real life and unique adventures of Lisa and her daughter Francesca. Some tales are more amusing than others. I definitely related more to Francesca’s stories, she’s around my age and has a more down to earth personality than Lisa. Lisa is a wild woman lol I like how everything can be an adventure to them. Anything could be a story. They see a light side to life, a humor even in hard times. I always respect that. But I didn’t get super interested in most of the stories. I definitely enjoyed Francesca’s story about breaking up with her boyfriend because he wasn’t nice enough to her dog. And another story about realizing he boyfriend was angry at her because of how he ate her birthday cake. Light reading. Some cute stories, some funny, some not for me. I got to read an early edition from NetGalley. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
