He's known as Father Anton to his teammates-the brooding, sexy captain of the NHL's Chicago Blaze has a reputation for . . . not having a reputation. Just like his diet and sleep routines, celibacy is part of Anton Petrov's on-ice mojo. Or so they say. Anton stays mum on the subject. If the world thinks he chooses to abstain from sex, so be it. Better that than the truth getting out: there is a woman he burns for, but he can never have her. She's his teammate's wife, after all. Mia Marceau is finally on her own. Now that she and her husband are living apart, she's finding the peace she was desperate for. She spends her days in classes and late nights bartending, making her own way in the world at last. After what she's been through, as long as her husband leaves her alone, she doesn't plan to rock the boat. He still has the power to hurt those dearest to her, and she can't demand a divorce with such a high cost. A chance encounter with Mia has Anton hoping for a shot he never thought he'd get. And while she's drawn to the intense, serious hockey center, Mia's leery about playing with fire. That's all Anton has ever known for Mia, though-a living, burning desire that won't be denied-no matter the cost. Contains mature themes.… (meer)

This was a good book. It went by quick but that didn’t take away from the story. Poor Mia had a rough go at life and was married to a jerk named Adam. Anton was the best, he really was a saint and waited patiently and tried to do this right by Mia. They had a strong chemistry and waited until things settled down some from her divorce before pursuing anything really romantic. I did like how Mia slowly got her backbone and Anton was strong for her when she couldn’t be. Overall great read. ( )

This is a good story.
The heroine is married but trying to obtain a divorce from a cheating, emotional abusive husband who won't let her go.
The Hero is amazing. He is not a man whore type, despite being surrounded by offers and in an environment where he could be. In fact since he met the heroine 2 (?) years ago he's had no interest in any other woman despite the fact he knows she's unavailable and it's a line he wouldn't cross.
His brother and fellow teammates make fun of him about his celibacy but he doesn't care. How refreshing.
Despite the heroine being married, there is no cheating between the Hero and heroine.
The Hero has feelings for her but is supportive of her getting out of this toxic relationship.
Even after he divorce it takes some time for them to be intimate.
HEA.
No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine.

One thing I didn't understand was the cover, it gives the impression it's a book filled with sex but that's not the case. ( )

Oh my gosh! Could Anton be any sweeter? His patience and strength is exactly what Mia needs after that a$$ if her husband. And that cover is a beauty. Uncle Dix was such an entertaining character. And I can’t wait to see what Brenda has in store for Alexei. This book has me all excited and looking forward to the rest of this new series

Brenda Rothert ANTON is an excellent start to the Chicago Blaze series. Anton Petrov is captain of the NHL’s Chicago Blaze. He is the poster boy for perfect behavior. He has secretly been lusting over his team mates’ wife, Mia Marceau. When he discovers that the two are separated, he finds it hard to resist her.

I like Anton. He works hard. He always felt that he had to maintain a strict diet and workout routine to keep up with his naturally talented twin brother, Alexei, who is also in the NHL. He has a good heart, and he is patient. I love that he takes care of his biological and billet family.

I like that Mia is a strong heroine who got out of an abusive marriage. As a result, her self-confidence has taken a hit. I appreciate that she regains her confidence throughout this story because of the things that take place. I love how Mia interacts with Anton’s uncle Dix.

ANTON is a skillfully written and heartwarming read. There are relevant and believable obstacles that the characters face. This book sets an excellent foundation to the Chicago Blaze series. I look forward to the next book. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book. ( )
