Colin Kaepernick's decision to take a knee has cost him his job and money. His stand is within his rights as a United States citizen. However, the position he has taken is presented by some as disrespect to the country. Freedom of speech is a right to every citizen. Politics and Sports....Like water and oil.... They don't mix at all. Imagine that you wanted to get your point across in such a way that everyone would see your obvious point. There are millions of people watching football every Sunday. The perfect time to make a point would be during the American national anthem. The flag and the national anthem is not the focus here. It's not about disrespecting the flag or the American national anthem. It's about the injustices in America against people of color. America has a historical problem, and that problem is racism. Until we deal with the problem, America is going to continue to erode as a society. There has to be a reasonable solution to the race issue. We have to start to heal our wounds in America. America wants to be great again. To move forward, America has to deal with race and racism. As ugly as it is we must come to terms with it. Our future depends on it. Politics is not the solution. Too many times we put the responsibility on our politicians. The American people must solve this age-old problem. Our future generations deserve a chance to live in better America.… (meer)
