Not sure what happened. Was gripped from the start then lost it somewhere in the middle. Back story of parents I skipped completely. Boring and just didn’t see why we needed to know. The “thrill” feel dropped from there. Think story should have stayed with the kidnapping and followed the path of her rescue til the end. Too much otherness happening. Didn’t finish just skimmed to the end. I prefer non-stop action from psychological thrillers not pointless scenes taking up space. I will still try other titles from this author; not a deal breaker book. This book dragged on way too long. I didn't like how the book went back to before after the main event (the kidnapping) took place. I felt it would have been better had the book been in chronological order, but I guess you wouldn't have been as surprised as to why Kira was kidnapped. Rebecca and Brian have been married for 20 years and decide to take their 2 kids on a European tour. Kira and Tony head out for fun in France, where Kira meets Jacques. They agree to meet the next night in Barcelona. Then Kira is kidnapped. Rebecca, an FBI agent, and Brian, a web coder/hacker, try to find Kira before it is too late. This novel is about blackmail, espionage, traitorous activity. It would have been better if it was about 100 pages less in length. Glad to see the ending the way it happened. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

The book begins with a "Prologue," and you won't know who's speaking. You'll have to read all the way to the end. Then you will know, and you can re-read the "Prologue."
Rebecca and Brian take their two teenage children, Kira and Tony, on a vacation in Europe. In Spain, Kira disappears. What follows is the search for her, but that's not all.
This is also the story of a marriage, but it is not a romance story. Rebecca is an FBI agent; Brian is with the National Security Agency. Their history is revealed in flashbacks. They may shock you. They definitely will surprise you.
But the end of that story isn't the end of the book. There's more.
This is my first Alex Berenson book. Don't you just love when you find a great author and get to read his backlist? ( )
