Great summer read about trying to breakup a wedding as other romantic hijinks ensue ( ) This was one of those books I was anticipating for 2022 and I was so excited about. But I was so disappointed. I couldn't get over how mean the characters were at the beginning of the book. I carried that same energy throughout the book, so even when some reconciliation was happening, I wasn't rooting for them all the way. It was more like okay, if you must.. I was super duper disappointed. I wanted to like it more. I really did. Delilah Green returns to her hometown after a decade away to photograph her estranged step-sister Astrid’s wedding. She doesn’t particularly want to see stuck-up Astrid or her horrible step-mother again, but it’s a lot of money. She’ll just get in and out and never think about it again. But Astrid’s fiance is unconscionably horrible, and Astrid’s best friend Claire is very beautiful and sweet, and seeing her step-mother again brings up a lot of feelings she had repressed. Maybe Delilah cares more than she thought? A very fun, spicy, queer romance. I liked that basically all of the obstacles are related to external factors and not actually anything between the couple. There is a Chekov’s bet which was really unnecessary, but other than that it’s all about Delilah’s childhood trauma and Claire’s young single motherhood. The story is just as much about Delilah and Astrid as it is about Delilah and Claire, which made it feel like a really full story. I found ALL of the characters pretty relatable, Delilah and Claire and Astrid and Iris. I don’t usually like to pick up romance sequels but I might here. I realky liked it. No masterpiece, but it never lost my attention, which is impressive in my book. I'm more of a YA perso and most adult books lose my attention quickly, but not this one. Was invested fron start to finish. It was funny, sweet, dramatic, sad, and contained two of my favourite things. Family drama and siblings. Hopefully they'll expand on these in the next book, because I want more of that. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

Delilah Green swore she would never go back to Bright Falls. Her life is in New York, with her photography career finally gaining steam and her bed never empty. Sure, it's a different woman every night, but that's just fine with her. When Delilah's estranged stepsister, Astrid, pressures her into photographing her wedding with a guilt trip and a five-figure check, Delilah finds herself back in the godforsaken town that she used to call home. She plans to breeze in and out, but then she sees Claire Sutherland. Having raised her eleven-year-old daughter mostly on her own while dealing with her unreliable ex and running a bookstore, Claire Sutherland depends upon a life without surprises. And Delilah Green is an unwelcome surprise... at first. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
